Austria's highest coffee house
Let yourself unwind in Austria's highest coffeehouse
Café 3440 in the mountain world of the Pitztal Glacier is unique. Accessible by cable car, it is the highest view point in Austria. The Gletscherexpress and the Wildspitzbahn mountain railways will transport you safely and with ease from the valley to the summit of the Hinterer Brunnenkogel at an altitude of 3,440 metres above sea level. The mountain station is not only home to the technology of the Wildspitzbahn, but also to a very special type of restaurant. The snow-capped peaks seem close enough to touch thanks to the architecture and the south-facing glass front and free-floating terrace. Sheltered, as if in a box seat, while still enjoying an unobstructed view of the glaciated world of the Ötztal Alps, you can savour the selected culinary delicacies in this special ambience.

Baked by hand and with love - Austria's highest confectionery shop
Our cakes, pastries and sweet treats are specially devised and created by our team of confectioners for Café 3440. These are served with barista coffee and selected alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. A small yet fine selection of regional dishes will satisfy your hunger at these dizzying heights. We recommend the buckwheat cake filled with “Grantenmarmelade” (= cranberry jam) or the cream cake with the resinous touch of the local Swiss stone pine. It is best to just come see for yourself!
THE 3440 is a summer and winter excursion tip and highlight for guests from the region
THE 3440 – coffee house and viewpoint – is an excursion tip for both summer and winter. THE HIGHEST OF TIROL is open throughout the year, with the exception of the maintenance period in May and June. You can reach this high point safely, conveniently and quickly with just two lifts. The journey time from the valley with the Gletscherexpress up to 2,840 m is approx. 12 minutes. It is a 100 m walk from there to the Wildspitzbahn station and the gondola takes just under 6 minutes to reach 3,440 m above sea level, THE HIGHEST OF TIROL.

Breakfast at the Wildspitze
Tyrol’s highest breakfast – in both summer and winter – can only be found on THE HIGHEST OF TIROL. It really is a special experience. When taking the first ascent, you will be among the first in the glacier skiing area to experience it. The team led by mountain hut host Sepp is already waiting for you at 3,440 metres. A diverse and extensive buffet with lots of regional delicacies and coffee specialities are ready to be savoured. May we introduce the face of Café 3440?

Every hut needs a host
Café 3440 is not a hut, of course, but an architecturally elegant building situated at a dizzying height, run by Sepp Eiter. He is the face of the highest coffee house in Austria. As a host who is always in a good mood, coupled with experience and wisdom, Sepp is popular and well-known among our regular guests.
