Weekly Mountain Routes and hikes at the Highest of Tirol
You will gain new perspectives at alpine heights. It is only those who go high up that see the vast mountain world that opens up on THE HIGHEST OF TIROL. Height plays an important role here: It is only those who overcome their sporting limits that exceed themselves.
The trip to the starting point of the glacier hikes is an experience in itself. The most modern cable car in Austria – the Wildspitzbahn – whisks you over the glacier to alpine heights. When you reach the top, you can explore the glacier world on your own or together with a guide. From leisurely hikers through to extreme mountaineers, everyone will find their own route.
The living room of Tyrol, the Rifflsee, is ideal for summer hikes. It is the highest mountain lake in Austria that can be visited. The Rifflseebahn cable car takes you directly from Mandarfen to the hiking area. You can discover hidden places that invite you to linger on the Rifflsee circular hike. Do you want to go higher? The mountain lake is also the starting point for a number of high-altitude hiking trails in the Pitztal mountains.
Feel the high-altitude euphoria and overcome your sporting limits.

The Gletscherexpress and the Wildspitzbahn mountain railways will comfortably transport you up to THE HIGHEST OF TIROL. We will discuss the descent ahead of us at Café 3440, Austria’s highest café. The first steep passage is overcome by means of secured steps, which will then take us towards the glacier. The mountain guide will then lead you safely through the labyrinth of crevasses of the Taschachferner where we will also explore a glacier crevasse. We then continue to the Taschach Haus to enjoy a refreshment break. Afterwards, we hike to the valley floor and leisurely negotiate the last 7 km of forest road by mountain bike.

Leisurely Rifflsee circular hiking trail
The Sunna Alm is your starting point for the hike. To the left, a gentle path leads you around the turquoise-blue mountain lake. When the days are particularly hot, you may be tempted to dip your toes in the ice-cold water. You will arrive back at your starting point after about an hour. You can refresh yourself with Tyrolean delicacies on the spacious sun terrace of the “Sunna Alm”.

To the Hidden Lake
There is a turn-off halfway along the circular trail from the Rifflsee to the Verborgener See (Hidden Lake). Although much smaller, this biotope is no less exciting as a place of discovery, especially for the little ones. Frogs, tadpoles and small fish frolic around here and delight children of all ages.
